Exercising daily

Hi Friends!

Today, I want to share a new habit I've recently adopted: waking up earlier to run 2 miles. Now, you might be wondering, "what does running have to do with business?" Well, I’m about to find out!

Like many of you, I'm always looking for ways to grow both personally and professionally. This new morning routine has been a net positive for me, and here's why:

  • Mental Clarity: There's something magically refreshing about the early morning air and the quietness of the city. I've found that these runs clear the mental fog and set a positive tone for the day. I don’t need to be thinking about anything at that time, and I’m able to just soak in the scenery as I jog past. By the time I return home, my mind is clear, calm, and in problem solving mode.

  • Discipline and Consistency: Sticking to this routine hasn't always been easy, especially when I don’t go to bed on time, but it's teaching me valuable lessons about discipline and consistency. These are qualities that I want to improve throughout my personal as well as professional life.

  • Stress Management: Running has a meditative effect on me. It's a time when I can simply focus on my breathing and putting one foot in front of the other. By focusing on only the basics of movements, it simplifies my thoughts and calms down my racing mind. This has reduced my stress levels, allowing me to approach business challenges with a calmer, more centered mindset.

  • Strengthening my core: A practical benefit that I wanted to gain from this is to be able to improve my walking. I’ve noticed that my legs and knees get sore and tired after a day of walking, and I am not able to enjoy my previous vacations to its fullest because of this impediment. Being healthy is a major contributing factor to enjoying life, and I want to be able to enjoy life for a long time.

Now, I'm not saying you need to start running to be successful in business. For me, what I’m trying to accomplish is to build an identity of who I want to become, and to train the discipline required to consistently make progress towards that goal. For me, it's becoming someone who runs in the morning. For you, it might be to become a healthy eater, or an early riser.

Whatever identity you want to become, the key is to commit to it. The benefits you'll see in your personal life will inevitably translate to your professional life.

I'd love to hear from you! Do you have a morning routine that sets you up for success? How has prioritizing your physical health impacted your business decisions? Reply to this email and share your experiences – I'm always eager to learn from your insights!

Until next time, keep running :) towards your goals!

P.S. Remember, it's not about being perfect. Some days, my run is more of a jog. What matters is showing up and putting in the effort. Measure the Gain, not the Gap!
